DOT Physicals at CAREfull Health and Wellness Clinic are designed with real-life drivers in mind-busy schedules, long hours, and the pressure of keeping your livelihood on the road. As a Family Nurse Practitioner, I understand how important it is to complete your exam efficiently while still following every federal safety requirement.
During your Department of Transportation medical exam, I review your health history, medications, and prior conditions that could affect driving, such as high blood pressure, diabetes, sleep apnea, heart disease, or vision and hearing issues. I check your vital signs, perform a focused physical exam, assess vision and hearing to DOT standards, and evaluate any concerns that might impact your ability to operate a commercial vehicle safely.
If you're managing chronic conditions, we talk through what the regulations require and what documentation you may need. When possible, I'll work with you over time-through regular primary care or chronic disease management visits-to help keep your blood pressure, blood sugar, and other risk factors in a range that supports passing future exams.
I know paperwork delays can cost you workdays, so I aim to complete your forms accurately and promptly. You'll leave understanding your certification period, any restrictions, and what steps to take before your next DOT exam.
Many drivers appreciate the calm, respectful setting and straightforward explanations, especially if they've felt rushed or talked down to in other offices. Here, you're treated as a professional whose health directly supports your job and your family.
Whether this is your first DOT physical or your tenth renewal, my goal is to make the process clear, efficient, and fair, while keeping both your safety and your livelihood in mind.
